Okay, I have a question about Missouri's regs and rules. In some copies, I've seen that Red Shouldered Hawks are prohibited, but in other versions they are listed as a species an apprentice may take. I'm confused on this subject, even though I most likely will never get an RS! =P Just wondering!!!
Thanks, FG

In Illinois, falconers may possess and fly Red-shoulders, but only if they obtain the bird from another state which permits trapping of that species. The reason? The RS is on the Illinois threatened/endangered species list, and therefore, can not be taken/trapped from the wild in Illinois.
Perhaps it's the same in MO? I'd check with your sponsor.
Don't worry, I wasnt planning on getting one, Bob. I've heard they have really small feet and they can scream(...though this might be a rumor??) And plus, I think before I'd even consider it, which I doubt I will, I believe that I need to ..."conquer" having a red tail without it dying or being lost. But thanks for the info!! Oh, which reminds me I need to return the hood to you. I'll probably be going to cape soon since I made a Red-Tailed Hawk Poster in Design class at Saxony Lutheran High and I want to donate it to the Conservation Center I'll call you soon! Still no luck finding Storm, but my mouse, named Hawkbait( is doing well, lol! Still going out with the lure sometimes, calling her name, whistling, and even driving around with my trap.
Oddly enough, my neighbor stopped by and said he found part of a hawk in his yard! He said it had a really white belly, and one foot was left, no bands or anklets or jesses or bells on it though, so that's good. he also said it looked like it had been dead for a couple of weeks, and that vultures were feeding on it. The tail was gone.
Sorry for gettig off the subject so much, lol
