That would be awesome just have to talk to the parent( they have the whole thing about meeting people online-bunch of bull $hit if you ask me) ya that would be great
Yeah I understand. I met Wendy online too (although my old teacher knew my other sponsor Simone) but after emailing back and forth and reading all our emails for a while, my mom decided she was trustworthy and let me go hawking with them.

haha i met Aaron online, took me mom with me! lol met him at his house, and the next day we were out there swearing at some guy to move so we could get to the place we wanted to hunt at
if your mom wants to call me and talk, tell me and ill pm you my number, there for she can see, im not child pedofile lol.
You have to be very careful with what you give out online. Take it from me, who when i was 15 had someone show up at my house.... and I had never posted my number or address online. Apperantly he had found my name [which was NOWHERE online at the time] and cross referenced it to a newspaper artical, then begged them for info and showed up on my frontdoor. I got lucky and he just wanted a picture of my bird and some info on falconry.... but don't blame your parents for being worried, there is a very legitatimate reason and you must be careful.
That was not meant to scare you or anything, just know you can't trust everyone you meet online.

Thanks FB ya i know all about that...has anyone ever seen datelines:to catch a predator?.......anyways its about these guys that meet girls that are like 15 and the guys are like 40 to have sex. dateline shows how easy it is to get yourself in a bad situation pretty quick when your online.
Hey, just joined the forum, and wondered if you had any more info on Rabbitfest. I'd be interested in going, and its timed perfect since I just started seriously looking into the sport.
Man, I completely misread the dates on this thread. I was thinking how perfect, but I guess it was too perfect.
So any recommendations on finding a sponsor, or is it best just to send some letters to the people close by on the list you get from the state. Also any chance of meeting some of your sponsors to get a feel for how things work, and maybe see a bird in action?
I sent an email to Brian with address from the Dragon Hoods site. I've also left a message for Mr. Woods of Northwoods and sent an email to Mr. DeBruyn of the WFA.
waterbug: Do you know if Wendy would be willing to meet with me briefly some time to talk about the sport, and perhaps to see her bird(s)?
Thanks to everyone with all the helpful suggestions. Hopefully I will hear back from someone over the weekend.
Also, is it just me, or does there seem to be a large number of Falconers in WA compared to other locations? I've heard there are only 4,000 in the country, but it seems there are a large percentage locally.
Yeah email me with a more specific location, etc. and I'm sure Wendy wouldn't mind talking to you at all. If we all happen to be getting together any time soon (not counting next week's possible oregon trip) you could see my bird and both of my sponsors' birds. Wendy likes to email at work a lot, so random questions of any amount make her happy.

Ok, I am new to this sport and I live in Washington too! North Bend, actually, its right next to the cascades. Waterbug-I still need to discuss to my dad about this, but, if he gives the ok, do you think I can meet up with Wendy so I can here more about the sport?
I've done some research and stuff and I was reading this whole post before I even joined xD
