George Allen of the US F&WS estimated that the Connecticut falconry regs should be published as a final rule within 2-3 weeks.
Furthermore, today our state falconry program coordinator informed me that she will begin mews inspections at that time (for anyone who has passed the Connecticut apprentice exam).
We're almost there!

Well, we're still waiting for the final okay before our regs can be published in the Federal Register. Apparently the regs are still sitting in the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Interior waiting for sign off. Soon, I hope!
On another note, to date, seven people have successfully completed the Connecticut apprentice exam. Most of those people are now preparing to build their mews and are searching for sponsors. Finding sponsors for everyone this first year may be a bit of a challenge, but I am doing my best to help anyone who is serious about flying a bird this year to find a sponsor.
I was lucky in that I had a sponsor lined up two years ago and I built my mews last summer (when I thought the regs would be okayed by the feds).
FYI. The Connecticut Falconer's Association is having a meeting on Sunday, April 24, 9:00-11:00 a.m. in Wethersfield, CT to discus the proposed federal regs and club business. Any Connecticut residents with an interest in falconry are welcome to attend.
In the meantime here's a link to the Yahoo CT Falconry group in case anyone is interested in joining: groups.yahoo.com/group/ctfalconry
