Sorry I didn't reply earlier, sandman. Didn't notice your question! I do make arab-backed and khan hoods, dutch with teardrop eye panel, and am experimenting with the Fox hood. Here is my latest dutch, finished this morning. Size 19 made for my mentor, hopefully to fit one of his large female Finnish goshawks. If he says it's a bit too big, though, I'm not sure if I'll be able to part with this one

Thanks! Do you mean individual goshawks? He currently has two females and two males. Both females and one of the males are Finnish, the last male is Czech. Both the females are pretty big - one flew at 1300g and the other at 1200g. Last year he flew one of the females he produced for half the season, then sent it down to someone in California who promised to send back the hood that went with it, but he never heard from the guy again.

Oh yea I was talking about finn, czech, german, NA etc... That answered my question though. If I flew a gos I would like one of those male finns or finn/czech. My sponsor flew a finn/czech/german female this year that flew around 1200. He said she airlifted a cottontail because she overtook it so fast and slammed it into the ground.
Hah that sounds like a good flight! The Czech male isn't donating this year so I think my bird will be all Finnish. Although some of the semen he used was from another breeding project which has finn, caech, and german, so I suppose I won't really know for sure whether I have an all Finnish or a cross. My mentor used to do NA/euro crosses but started with the all euros last year.

Well for a dutch hood it's pretty simple, if you say "female redtail" I will send you the size that fits almost all female redtails. If you already have the bird and have used another hood on it, the size of that hood can be useful, especially if you include a comment such as "the 9 that's on her right now seems a little loose, but not enough that she can throw it". Or comparisons; for example, someone told me their passage female gyrfalcon was "slightly smaller than the average for the US" so I can figure by looking at the size chart that going one size smaller than "female gyrfalcon" should be a good fit. If you want an anglo-indian or a dragon style hood, then the standard behind the eye measurement is what I need. Thanks for asking!
