Hey Loren, welcome to the site! You wouldn't be the first to have fallen for the "hawk bug". ;DI'm pretty sure there's some falconers near you--try putting up an ad in the classified section.
Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he'll be warm for a lifetime.
I like this one. though I might suggest you bring a little more light into the eyes to make them more lively (from an artists perspective). it's really good though
As do I, I love that picture in particular, the dark eyes make her look ... cute, yet strong.
What bird was it a picture of? I can't tell from just the head.
When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze
No its not that the eyes are dark. It's that they are dead in appearance, once again no offense. It doesn't look like any life is behind the eyes, they are dull. black onyx is pitch black, yet it glistens with light.

The near eye was a bit lighter ... the scanner didn't pick up on it... dark... but, with a slight white to bring some life into her... not too much, not too little.
BTW, I don't take offense... so, don't worry... all suggestions are appreciated.
.Thanks.
BTW, I do like her - She was real sweet looking... very cute.
lorenwheale - thanks for taking my criticisms so well.. the sign of a true artist! I've been through tons of art classes, and drawn practically all my life. I'm artistic by nature. It was actually, at a point in my life, a dream of mine to move to japan and be a manga artist. I fell in love with music though, and music became more important. I play percussion, bassoon, piano, trombone, i'm in choir (a tenor).... The next thing I'm going to take up is cello. ;D

strixvaria- Hi, I've sold all my original works and do sell prints. I didn't come on here to do business... mostly to share my work, passion and to find people in my area to see their birds up close and personal - Since, I only have seen these birds in photographs.
You can reach me out of the board - since I don't' know the rules regarding this and wouldn't want to break any - but, my e-mail is shared... I sell my work depending on time it took for me to make it - But, when it comes to prints... I sell them to share my work rather than for profit... Usually $10.00/print + $1.00 postage+handling.
But, it you want an original, or request something - I don't mind hearing your suggestions...
BTW - This one right?

Morganf - Criticism is to be constructive and helpful - It's not criticism when you say something like, I hate it... that's opinion ... something I like to hear why someone hates it... that's criticism... and helps me grow and expand to all people's expectations of such works...
I'm now working on a set of American Kestrel sculptures - So, if anyone has any cool Acton shots or lives in my area - or drivable distance - and has an American Kestrel - I'd love to see it!!

i have no problem with you selling your works, infact, part of the forum is dedicated to selling items. CHeck out the classified board, and please post it there if you want to sell. Once again, you are a very talented artist.
