I didnt see Wisconsin posted...so here it is..I am a pre-apprentice in South Central Wisconsin.Studying up and hopefully geting hooked up with a sponser here in the next month or so. Stumbled across this board..seems like a great place to be..
Actually, I think that Carolyn was one of his apprentices. She has a blog and is a friend of another falconer friend of mine out in NM. Good luck with your pursuit. -Joe
Hello I am new to this site. I live in Central Wisconsin and would like to find a sponsor or at the least someone I bore with my questions. Please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks for your time.
It is very nice to see other people from Central WI (I live in the Wausau area) interested in Falconry. I am just starting the permit phase. How exactly does one go about this process in WI. Is the correct procedure to... file WI permit, pass USF&W Falconry exam, then seek sponsor? Any help on this process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would first study anything you can get your hands on, then contact falconers in your area and talk to them a bit. Try and see their birds, see a hunt, etc. If all goes well, take your test, and get a sponsor. Some states require you to have a sponsor first, you would have to contact your DNR to find out how it works in your state.
Sorry if you know some of that already, i did not know what steps you have taken already.
