It's good to see some fellow Utah members posting....I live in Salt Lake county. I will be pulling an eyas Goshawk this spring provided I can find a suitable nest site. I can't wait for this snow to melt so I can start looking...

I'm interested in falconry for the hunt, for the connection to the animals involved, and for the challenge of training. I'm willing to do menial tasks for one or several falconers in Utah Valley on Saturdays or on a few week day nights, just so I can be close to birds, their training, and the hunt.
I'm not looking for a sponsor right now. I'm no where close to being able to house, train, or hunt my own bird. All I want is exposure, and if you need a second person to help clean your mews, cast your birds, or otherwise be a extra hand with training, I'd love to hear from you.
Hey guys I'be been recently researching falconry and would like to get into it. I live in the Layton area if anyone knows where that is. I've been keeping pigeons and been pretty successful at that. I was thinking that if I get into it I would just change my pigeon coop into a roost. The dimensions are 5ft wide 3 1/2 ft tall and 3ft deep, I'll try and post a picture as soon as possible. If I get into it then I'm thinking of getting a Redtail. Would this be big enough for the hawk?
One other question, if I live in the suburbs and have 2 huge parks next to my house, are those good places for training and exercising a hawk? Also do you guys know of any sponsors near my area, specifically Syracuse, Clearfield, Layton area. Thanks!
usually a minimum mew for a redtail that most go by is 8x8x8 and the same for a weathering area, as far as the height part of that equation nothing lower than 6' foot , so your 5x3.5x3 would be unacceptable for a redtail any way you set it up, unless it's a giant hood. since you have been researching what do your falconry regulations say?
yeah sorry to say that is not a big enough space I believe it is 6/6/6 to get it the size you want. However I am doing a kestrel and live in a apartment and live in slc. So just because it says those sizes it does not mean it has to be that size. e.g. look at indoor mews they may be a better option. I would look at the UFA "utah falcon ass." we are having a bbq on sat. feel free to message me if you need anything else
