Boise, Idaho to be exact, really new here but think I'll be around for awhile. So thought, I'd post here....Think I've been to the World Center of Birds of Prey too much...they should give a free pass or something.
In case you hadn't noticed, you can't swing a lure in the Boise valley without hitting a falconer. Per capita one of the largest populations of falconers anywhere.
May I assume you have hooked up with Jesse Woody in Kuna ? If not go to Idaho Falconers Association website and look around. I'm a hundred'n'sum miles up stream on the Snake River at Burley.

No kidding, suprized that I don't see many people out and about, although I'm in the tall corn most of the time with my shotgun, see a few birds catching what we miss alot though. No actually I haven't but a firend of the family knows Morley Nelson's son pretty well. Might get a hook up that way. Heh, still waiting on my license though...but would be nice to talk with for awhile.

Hi I just registered and it sounds like I'm living in the wrong part of the state, lol. I live in the Mini-Cassia area and am having a hard time finding anyone close to sponsor me. Can't find anyone close. I used to know a guy that was a nurse who I worked under as a CNA that was gonna sponsor me then he moved so I'm kinda lokking still

I'm in Kuna, South of Boise.
I would recommend getting in contact with Jesse Woody, you can get his email from the Idaho Falconer's Associate homepage (afraid to give it out here for spammers). He is extremely knowledgeable, and extermely welcoming and friendly to newcomers. He is also my sponsor!
I have also met Sully, and I have an awesome glove that he made!!
The next IFA get together won't be until the end of August. But if there are people here that would like to get together for falconry purposes or just general nonsense I would be interested . . . . . my email is grendlesgirl@msn.com
Vasilex are you an apprentice or pre-apprentice? I used to volunteer for the WCBP for 5 years when they first started their interpretive center. I think that volunteering there is also a good training opportunity.
Also the National Archives of Falconry are there, which is an abosultely amazing experience. I recommend getting in touch with Kent Carnie for a visit there if anyone is in there area it is totally worth it!
I'm in Rexburg, there are a few falconers around this area, and it's pretty good for hunting on the outskirts. I'm in college though, so I'm going to take a kestrel for my first bird while going to school part-time. I think that will work.

That depends on if the issue is size or time!!!
As long as you can have some daylight hours each day of the week in the winter . . . I have a deal worked out with my boss that in the winter I work 7-3 so me and the red tail have hunting time . . .
So I'll be moving to Boise here in a few weeks. I finished my first year of apprenticeship and have flown 2 birds in AZ one successfully, the other wasn't a good falconry bird. I'll be looking for sponsors in the Boise area that have a good experience with free lofting and with Gos's as that is what I intend to fly after my apprenticeship is over, so if you are someone like this or you know someone like this please contact me!

all I have to say is your a trader leaving beautiful AZ for some grouse hunting shame on you. hope you have a good time up there anyways. I will send you a pic of jacks this year I am planning on catching a 35 pounder this year LOL
Come on up snafu. You won't miss the AZ weather. Its 98 F right now in southern ID. Boise is usually warmer. Everybody jus' dying because its a little warm. I've quit watching the local weather. They act like its never been warm before. I want to shout at them " Its July, you morons, its suppose to be warm !"
Like I PM'd you awhile ago, we'll get you hooked up with Boise area falconers. Like to meet you.
We'll definitely have to get together I was talking to Stephan Buffat the other day about his dogs(selling pointers on raptor's nest) and about falconry in general and he was saying that they were thinking about having an eyas bbq in Idaho falls in august, have you heard anything about that?
