I am new to falconry and am very interested. I am beginning all my research to get licensed and equipment. I am in northern San Diego country. Any advise would be great. I am a former Marine and now in the law enforcement business. There are so many great threads here. Thanks all.

Hi all, I'm near Napa just north of Vallejo in the SF bay area. I've passed the DFG falconry exam this week and now looking for a sponsor! The mews design is on paper but would like to have approval before it's built. I have some gear and will have all well before Oct. It would be great to get some hands on training on bird handling. Here's a bit more about me. www.youtube.com/user/danceswithwings
;Dany falconers or sponsors need bush shaking or looking to maybe sponsor someone im in the San fernando valley area of los angeles im have all my Equipment and iv pass the state test..im ready to start 09 season!
Can someone near Milpitas(like 5 min north of san jose) send me some information on how hunting there is like? Im moving up there this summer and might start falconry next year. Been wondering where i could go hunting besides bair island since that is the closest spot for me to go that i have found online, and i wont have a car more then likely. Who lives by there that might take up an apprentice? As for my first bird im fine with either RT or kestrel i like them both, the choice will be which ever bird would be best at that time. For general i am planning on a prairie falcon, or maybe an aplomado. The aplomado im just going to try and look up on importing laws, im guessing that catching and importing one would be easier then paying like $2k.
If you have any info on that are could you email me at timidtimeo@gmail.com Thanks in advance for all your help.

I have imported birds and with that experience and that aplo's are MBTA listed and being reintroduced (?), I guarantee it will be cheaper to buy one than attempt to import a wild caught.

as I remember the aplo is still on the threatened list. your state may require you to be a master falconer befor you are aloud to fly one. but you will spend allot more money importing one.
Does anyone live In Santa cruz California or Marysville? ( Besides FireAngel )
A few friends and I might possibly be doing a road trip between August 29th and September 5th. Main events would be a Nickelback concert august 31rst and a Fiddlers concert September 4th.
Basically curious to know if I can stop by and say Hi to anyone while i'm in the area. In between concerts we'll have a lot of time to kill.
Maybe I can buy some dinner and BBQ at someones house and talk about falconry. ( while my friends possibly do something else )
Just passed my test with a 93% and looking for a sponsor, will o'dear is sick right now but i thought i might get the ball rolling here as well. I am located in San Jose, ca
