Welcome to the board. I am a Texas falconer. If I may suggest: a good place to start is joining the Texas Hawking Association. There are allot of falconers your way. Most of us are not flying birds at the moment, but the season is getting close.
So last week I flew to Denver Colorado and stayed in Dallas Texas for 4 days for a RadioShack Convention. Is there anyone I could of hung out with falconry wise? Maybe next year we can chew the fat?

Hello, from Mobile Alabama, grew up in Auburn Alabama raised by my Creek Indian Grandfather. He always kept owls and hawks when he found them with broken wings or other injuries. Would be interested in taking on this aprentice if I can find some others into the same mind.
