Hello fellow falconry Coloradans my name is Kristi (or Falconry Goddess), I am new to the forums and wanted to introduce myself to not just the general board but also the people that are near my location. I am not exactly new to the sport, have been interested in it since I was a kid have some done research and read some books so I understand the basics etc., and finally being 16 I have decided to start looking into taking the test, finding a sponsor, getting my apprentice license, gathering any information that I can, and working on finding a bird. I am very excited to talk with locals that love Falconry like I do, and hope to make some good friends/teachers. =]

Welcome Kristi. When you have a chance send me a PM and let me know what part of Colorado you are in. I'll shoot you some Information on people that may be in your area and the contacts at the state club that can help you get going.
Some people grin and bear it, other people smile and change it.
Hey everyone--I live in a southern suburb of Denver and just passed my test. I have lined up a sponsor and am just waiting for my HOA to approve construction of my "shed". Would be interested in meeting anyone around my location as I get started on the beginning of this journey.

Hi Pogo! I'm in vail sometimes based in Aurora and yes it's a bummer. Moving to Westcliffe! So I can finally get out of the shi**y city and enjoy mycelf. Look forward to being a Apprentice.
Hi guys! Looking to photograph some working falcons. Is there a certain place you folks go to? Where would I be able to see you work?
Thanks! Steve
Steve,
you can go to this link for HPF and click on the "hunt with a falconer" tab. highplainsfalconers.com/
There is some basic contact information that you can fill out and someone from the club will contact you and try and put you in contact with someone that is flying in your area.
The season is just getting ready to get rolling so there should be plenty of opportunity in the near future for you to tag along with someone in the field.
I hope that helps,
Chad

Jumping in. I am from the Denver metro area, and looking into if falconry would be realistic for me. In the research stage, and thinking kestrels would be the necessary route to go for an urban area for us. Not sure how to go about finding a sponsor though. Colorado Hawking Club doesn't seem to have any apprenticeship seminars scheduled this year.
