Hi, I live in Palm Coast and I'm very interested in getting into this sport. I have always been into nature, the outdoors and love hunting. I have purchased numerous books on Falconry and have read how time consuming and hard it's going to be. I hope to be moving a little further north in the near future and buy some land to have room to conduct the sport.
I read on the FWC site that you have to be an apprentice for 2 years before taking the test, is this true?
"You may apprentice under a general or master falconer. Your sponsor can provide you with more information regarding the test. The apprenticeship has to be active for two consecutive years. When you have the required experience, you will take the Falconry exam at a regional service center. If you are a student, you might want to put this off until you are through with school."
My plan was to study and read everything I can get my hands on take the test and then find someone to apprentice with. Is this not a good way of doing it? Thanks for any insight or suggestions

You take the test before your apprenticeship begins, the way they have it worded is confusing. They may require you to have a sponsor before you take the test though. Reading everything you can will be very helpful either way! Hawking season is just starting, I'd try and get out hunting with people so you can see what its like.

Ethics make the individual, not the other way around.
Is it just me or do people not respond to emails. I still have yet to hear from them. Anything else I can try? Is this a normal thing trying to get into this sport?
