If someone should dare to steal anothers hawk, either let the hawk eat six ounces of meat placed on the offenders testicles, or, if the offender prefers, let him pay six solidi to the hawks owner.

Welcome to the forum. It's definitely exciting to start your journey. I wouldn't get your hopes up that you are going to trap a bird this season. It's a long process. Especially if you don't have a sponsor yet, and you haven't taken the test yet, AND you haven't had your facilities inspected yet. Again, it's a long process... take the time to do it all right, and you'll be much better off.

I'm in Pearland, Texas, and would like to find someone to work with me as I start to do my apprenticeship. I'm retired. When I was "younger" a friend of mine had 2 hawks that we used to hunt with. I've been interested in falconry ever since, but I've not had the opportunity until now to get active in it. I've got a long way to go, but I have the desire.

short answer is no. i live in san antonio and there is a falconer in laredo, i think there might be a second one by now, but you are in an area void of falconers.
i am always willing to meet with people and i hear there are jack rabbits out that way.

Hey, I'm interested in falconry. I would like to be a registered falconer someday, but I'm not really sure where to start. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas.
Best place to start is Texashawking.org...I moved to Dallas from DC and they were very helpful in getting me set up with a sponsor. I've since flown 4 red tails and one kestrel and I'm absolutely addicted to hawking. Most fun you can have, IMHO... ;D
