ya talk to those neighbors talk to the ones on the other side ,across the street ,behind you. Talk to everyone you can think of and expelle the the misconception that falconry is a bad think. also invite these people to come with you. Show them that it is a noble sport. WHen we quit hiding our sport mabe we will get more respect from the a thorities. Too much like a rant sorry ya talk to your neighbors and don't stop there. Once your bird is compatent ask for permission all over the place. Chris Foster
I have to agree with Chris, But i take it a step further. I have a permission form that i ask the land owner to sign, detailing what i'm doing and stating that i'll take full responsibility for any damage that i may cause to their property. WITHOUT EXCEPTION these land owners ask if they can come along. When we fly my son's bird, i always call the day before. I let them know that we are coming and tell them that they are welcome to join us. No one has joined us yet but i'm sure they will someday.
I'm going to purchase 40 acres of land. Ten acres will be in hardwoods, just perfect for squirrels. Ten will be planted in corn and milo. The other twenty will be planted with wild food plots in acre blocks strategically placed here and there. It will have thick hedge rows with broad leaf fescue planted all around. Tall trees will line the open areas. The row crops will be cut leaving 6-8 rows standing between each 12 rows harvested. It will be stocked with pheasant and quail. The twenty acre plot will become a rabbit haven. As long as i'm dreaming, i may as well put in a small pond for waterfowl and enclose the acerage with a 10' tall chain link fence. To cap it off, i'll have my own hawk to hunt it with
we are gonna live at this house and theres all country but we live by r.r track and a very small highway. i said that the land wouldnt work but everybody in my family thinks they know everthing about falconry. there is land thats not by any highway noise what-so-ever so. should i go and go to the other land every time i fly or should i fly with the rail road and the highway

Okay all you want great land.... My wife's niece works for a thourobred breeder and they are moving their operation to the Vancouver/ Surry area just north of the Washington boarder. There will be about 40 acrers of field 2 acrers of pond and access only by invitation. I have just the invite ;D They also have a couple hundred acres one hours drive from where I live, need I say open invite until they move their operation. Did I mention that due to my openness about falconry most of the local ranchers around also allow me access to their property. Just a perk of being a nice guy in the middle of no where.... ;D Chris Foster 108 Mile Ranch British Columbia Canada
Industrial parks work very well for bunnies too! Noel

We hunt the industrial parks around St Louis. Great bunny hunting! But i live in a smaller town, 35,000 ppl, about 120 miles south of St. Louis and the rabbits simply aren't there (the industrial park that is). I wish they were!
They don't mow around the train tracks here. Lots of cover. Could that be the difference?
Hmmm....not really sure bout that one as I have only hunted bunnies a couple of times. I went with a buddy of mine who has a killer tiercel RT and we flushed about 20 or so bunnies in about an hour along some train tracks going through an industrial park. The ground cover was about 18" tall and pretty even. I guess that they need specific requirements before they will move in such as water, food, and shelter for starters. Maybe someone on here has done some research on habitat for bunnies and can tell us more on the subject

Here is one explaination i got yesterday. The industrial parks have plenty of hiding places, under trailers, palletts, debris etc. Hiding from preditors is easier and there is a lot of food. Sounds logical to me.
