well my wife wanted some cute little quail too so i got some and they got here today. ordered 12 and they sent 18. that is cool so the hatch date is about well st patricks day. lol ill keep you all informed on hatchrate and all. this is kind of fun.
Rage, Have you done this before. I have been doing this for 3 years now with the buttons. I would say 5 will hatch at the most. Not to knock your party or anything. Shipped eggs are really hard to hatch, plain and simple. I get about a 50% and down hatch rate outta shipped eggs. My breeders produce at nearly 95% though. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.
50 percent would be good concitering i payed 5 bucks. at this point its the only way i can find to get breeders so if i pay a little more for parents than its all worth it for what ill get out of them. I have 50 pharoh eggs coming in 2 weeks provided for weather.
but yeah its my first time but ive been getting some real good info from some people that breed thier own on the site. hopefully all goes well.

i thnk any bird will incubate thier own eggs. just that they wont start till they have 5-7 eggs. personally id just get an incubator and get eggs every day.
I had set up one pair to naturally breed my first year. You need a heavily covered area in one corner. I just used a bund of wild brush and stacked it in the corner. 3 months later 12 little ones came out with mom. They produced 2 broods that year, the female quail blasted really hard into the cage top and kille herself. Since then i incubate them, you can pruduce 3 times as many babies, but it cool to watch the real thing once.
Falco I read that you said the female blasted into the cage top and killed herself. How tall are your cages? With Quail you only want the cage a foot tall or less (the shorter the better) this prevents them from picking up steam and crashing the cage top.
I remember when I was a kid my dad bought some Bobwhites and released them in our flight pen, the birds came out of the box and flew right through the 2" mesh the look on my dads face was priceless (LOL) Of all the things I have raised for my birds my favorite is the Bobwhite, I love to hear that call in the early morning while setting on the deck drinking coffee.
ICE, you just brought back memories of my grandfathers house in Cape Cod, MA. He has a house out there and in the mornings i'd go sit on the porch, watch the harriers and listen to the bobwhites. Good times.

OK THEY ARE HATSCHING. OUT OF 15 EGGS SO FAR I HAVE 6 CHICKS!!! THE CORT EGGS ARE STARTING TO HATCH TOO. BUTTON EGGS ARE 1 DAY LATE AND CORTS ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY! WOO HOOO.. THIS IS KIND OF FUN. OH AND IT KEEPS THE WIFE ALL GIGGLEY TOO!
look for the white bibs. those are the males. sometimes though and i have this situation is with the wild original color. mine have no white bibs. the red tails are the give away though. i only have a pair now. i got out of buttons. they where cute as hell as chicks and stunning as adults but they are not enough meat for my needs. i styed with the coturnix and have 3 types of them for now.
