Just wanted to say I found someone that has rabbits available live or frozen for 8-10 dollars a piece in NM. He guarantees they will be healthy. He is located in Esponola. He only has about 15-20 rabbits at anytime but if he gets more orders he will breed more and he says that the price of the rabbits will go down if he has enough people wanting them on a regular basis. If you are also looking into raising some of your own as meat rabbits or if you need a baggie or whatever, just pm me if you are interested and I will give you his contact info.
8-10$ a rabbit here in NM? .22 ammo is like 2cents a piece, that means if you really bad aim you can get a rabbit for 1$, just be careful of the lead.
Even safer would be steel shot from a 20guage, still less than a dollar a shell i think, and you can't really miss with a shotgun. Not to mention a jack is better food than a CB rabbit would be i'd imagine, plus there is no season on jacks to my knowledge.

Well.... I was just trying to help him out. I was more leaning towards live if you needed one, such as a baggie, I have been having a hard time trapping rabbits, becuase it's been so warm. imho I think having a live rabbit when you first start free flying is nice to have around just incase, and last I checked you can't get one live by shooting it.
I didn't mean it to sound mean, i was just saying that from a purely hawk food stand point its cheaper to shoot them, i don't really do baggies with redtails so that hadn't crossed my mind.

I for one will probably take him up on that at some point in the future. I for one am also not a good shot. Although my excuse is "More rabbits in the field for my hawk"
