ive used the dry ice in a tupperware and then a cooler. it really works fast. when i had my rodent buisness i could throw 200 mice in a cooler with the dry ice and they would be gone in under a minute.
co2 is not poisonous otherwise we would all be dead now. birds i freeze, its fast. rodents ill gas. rabbits id break a neck. cats? well thats what the Dodge is for.
CO2 is not poisonous it will kill you if thats all you breath because you cant survive on CO2 you need oxygen. it is an asphixiation, what it does is cut off the flow of oxygen to the vital organs eventually, (usually quickly when in a sealed environment) causing death. feeding your bird food thats been dispatched like this will not harm your bird.

I've been keeping reptiles my whole life so I am used to killing rats and mice. The whack on the head method gets bloody quick, so I prefer to use Co2. Fill a coffee can with dry ice and a little water, put it and the rats in a larger rubbermaid container, close the rubbermaid and come back 20 minutes later. They are all dead. Make sure to open up the container in a well ventilated area or you will most likely black out. I know people that have built gas chambers for the rodents, using a pressurized c02 available at welding and paintball shops. I just prefer dry ice.

one thing to remember, dont totally seal off the rubbermaid or cooler. the dry ice will cause an explosion if you do. no real dammage, but it will scare the crap out of you.
The problem with the pressurized CO2 is that it enters the lungs so fast that it can cause them to explode, before the rat dies. We used to have a rattery and breed them for pets, every once in awhile we had to dispatch them. We preferred the hold by the tail and bang them against the ground, it's quick.
Are you guys serious? This has to be the silliest thread that I've ever seen on this forum. This is about falconry right? Taking wild game with trained raptors? And we're worried about mouse feelings?
Y'know, let's just not practice the sport of Falconry anymore. It's completely un-ethical. Those birds have got to hate us, but those poor mice that we feed to them must genuinely dislike us! We must do something about this!
