barbary falcon best for pigeons... very quick and big feet that will hold onto anything! they are very aggressive. small but manuverable! females are around 530 gram flying weight but the prices are a bit expensive. why would you want to have a bird tail chase a pigeon from area that your trying to keep them away from. a barbary would be best to go up above and down on pigeons

A barbary falcon takes a good bit of longwing skill to train, as compared to a male gos which i'd imagine would be a better bird to start with if you're jumping out of the buteo realm for the first time.

My gos has got pigeons. I have seen noahs bird take pigeon also. It can be done but it is real demanding. Last week when i was watching noahs bird fly after pigeons i saw the pigeons put on some moves that i didnt think where possible. Truly if your bird can take them id say you have a good bird.

I have seen Red-Tails in downtown Dallas take Pigeons. Just like the ones that hunt bats near Austin. They get above them and stoop right through the flock.
Merlins have been called the "pigeon hawk". They also have the ability to out fly them.
Just because I like repeating myself I will say again, IMO it is unwise to feed wild pigeon. The risk of avian herpes, pox and a myriad of other disease risks are too great for me. I really believe that you would feel really stupid if your bird even got sick or worst case died because you fed it something you knew COULD be harmful. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away

No others come to mind. The family Columbidae are the worst. Pigeons and Doves. Avian Herpes and Avian Pox as well as frounce are all bad. All 3 can kill your bird. I am uncertain if freezing kills the herpes virus. Once more I will say that their are many food sources that have no risk. So feed them and not pigeon or dove. Yarak

I will NEVER feed and/or hunt pigeons again. The risk it too great.
My bird caught frounce once, and i do not wish it upon her again. luckily i was able to catch it the day it showed up, and give her meds later that night.
Pigeons are quite litterally rats with wings... i say dont bother with them, just toss them. When i fed pigeon to my bird, i wasnt even remembering about herpes or pox, i just thought of frounce. IMPO, the risk is far to great...
