I use a small squirt bottle. Spray a little on the beak, sometimes they'll open their mouth to get more in. I use it to mist the bird down in warm weather and if it is in the GH for a long time, to help cool the bird. It's also handy for rinsing the feet after cleaning, etc..

I use one of those bulb dealies that you use to get snot out of babies noses and ears. Tana is getting quite good at biting the tip and i squeeze water in. durring the summer i deffinatly spray down the bird as temps easily reach 100 and above.
wy bird freaks at the sound of the water bottle. Last night we treid to spray him for lice in the giant hood and he bated into the wal of the hood and knocked himself out. wy dad picked him up and layed him on his back to check him out. then he put him on the glove and he came to. Anyway I will try the bulb but I doubt he will let me touch him since I have had him for only 1 day.
introducing the water bottle is the same as any training, the more you use it, the more comfortable he'll get, though I wouldn't advise using it in the GH, try it on the fist.
The first thing we did after trapping nina was to mist her down and calm her by putting her in a dark place and the water bottle was never much a problem for her
Definately not. If the bird is sprayed for lice the head needs to be covered so that they eyes, mouth and nares are fully covered and then you can spray the bird, front and back and don't forget to spray under the wings. As for watering, I do not even offer it during the first week or so of manning. Once the bird is manned I simply offer it a bath pan while weathering and I take one with me for trips and meets.
the spray for lice is some bad stuff. read the label. I used it in my house and relized i had to air the house out when my wife complained of the air and the baby. i sprayed twice once at trapping and then one week later and did just fine.
