Vet check ups should be a part of our routine as a solid form of prevention. I went to the vet yesterday for a coping on the beak and to get her booster shot for WNV. All went well with my bird and my sponsors bird too. I met up with another falconer at the vets office as he was picking up his bird after it had surgery on it's broken leg. The leg looks OK and should heal fine....Just looks kind of nasty with the pins sticking out and the feathers missing. If you have ever seen a broken leg on a raptor they turn some really weird colors like Bright green! Oh well, this is just sort of a reminder to everyone out there to get there birds checked out regularly.

My mantra has always been Prevention first. I grind this in to all my apprentices. I have opted not to boost my bird this year. Since she had WNV last year her last blood test showed a high level of antigens, but based on my vets thoughts, we will wait and see. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away
