I have been doing falconry for 3 years and unfortunately i had my first bird break its leg in November last year. She had the leg re-set but it was slightly out of line. Since then i have had nothing but trouble with sores on her ex-broken leg . She is now flying off-coarse but as i got up to take her out yesterday i noticed that half of her middle toe had turned a deepish red , almost black! I touched it but its as she just did not feel it? It was swollen just behind the black and today i noticed it had moved a few millimeters up. I have tried to get to the vets but there is no chance until Monday. Is this Gangrene? Could it have been caused by the leg not being straight and therefor causing pressure sores?
I fear the worse for her.
Anyone help.
Mark.

Sounds like the toe is not getting blood, not sure what to do about it.. and i dont have any books handy becuase im not at home I'd try and get a vet to do a house call or go to their house. Find a more experianced falconer or centre, anything to get another opinion.
