Hey Chris it is actually more Indian,, the Arab hood all use the accordian back, The Indian, Slijper, and other Anglo styled hoods were used for centuries before the dutch hood became the hood of choice to many.... It is just a different hood for someone wanting a good fitting hood that is not often seen,, nothing more.I certainly don't think the price I am asking is unfair. It is a sewn hood that should last for years with proper use,, Hey to each there own,, I fly large falcons at Jackrabbits,, Sakerjack Ken Hooke Falconry Hoods International
large falcons at jacks a man with vision. I like that. My bad I said arab when I ment indian, either way I 'm sure the quality is among the best out there but I dout the extra tooling makes the hood work better. The tooliing apears very intricate and well done I sure you put more than 15 minutes into the making of the hood. As for the cost never said it was unfair for what you get but it is just decoraction. Sorry like my hoods simple.
Well actually from start to finish a tooled Moridian or any hood I make takes well over an hour, plus over nite on the block and checking regularly making sure that the hood does not stick and that the seams are rolled evenly etc.. I agree... of course the tooling does not make it work better, nor does the COLOR of dye you choose when you make or purchase a hood.. I have sold hundreds of hoods some very simple and some very ornate.. We are all individuals,, I could not agree more Chris,, some styles of hoods are far nicer looking when they are simple,,,I just prefer to offer a choice .. That's all.. Sakerjack Ken Hooke Falconry Hoods International As for hunting Jacks with large falcons,, the flight and stoops are tremendous and you do need vision as they usually go for over a mile..
varity is the spice of life. A well tooled hood as sales item is great. It's flashy it gets peoples attention the quality of the hoods keeps people coming back. And if you have a costomer base that keeps refering others to you. Then you have a good product. The fact that other hood makers display and use your hoods says a lot. I also commend you on staying the course and looking for common ground between us without loosing sight of the fact that in order to run a company that does not exclude non falconers ( and plenty of falconers will buy the ornate hoods as well) you must have the choses. It would be hypacritical of me to say that producing hoods leaning to the artistic side has no merit I have dabled in that myself. I made one for a friend that he keeps on his mantle he's not a falconer he just asked if I would make him a hood and paint a scene on the eye patches. Keep up the good work and keep quality first as I'm sure you do. Artisty can be beautiful and you seem to have found a your medium to express your artistic side. Chris
