I'd be cautious. Make sure your seller has lots of positive feedback, and make sure he sells lots of falconry related stuff. I'd hate to think of some kid selling fishing swivels on eBay.
Only got "stuck" a few times on eBay. Have dealt with alot of neat folks from US and UK. Good way to play it safe is not to be in a hurry. Check out prices of similar items from online dealers. Gives you a better idea of the value of an item. Remember shipping costs !
Sometimes it is better to let it go than pay too much by getting caught up in a bidding war.
Fun to shop and can find some real bargins there. Right now (Tuesday) my search turned up over 200 items using Falconry in the search. Theres a really cool Dutch Hood with Frog Skin eye patchs,Stainless Steel Bowperch and a couple of Kangaroo skins for under $20- and quite a bit more-Jim
Dodge Truck,Blue Dog,Treed Coon dont get much better!
Watch the kangaroo skins. One of the sellers presents garment grade roo hides as suitable for falconry. They're not. He got me, but he made it right after a little corespondence.
I've gotten some rare books off of EBAY. I'm cautious about some stuff. Ask questions before you bid if there is any doubt. Also yes, check their feedback and see if they sell any other falconry stuff. I won't buy a vital component such as a swivel unless the wording sounds like they know what they are actually selling. I do know some decent hood makers who sell on EBAY often. And I too thought the 'roo hides sounded iffy. I bought my 1/2 hide from Northwoods.
