I got a call 2 days ago that a Tiercel Golden Eagle with falconry equipment was spotted in the Hesperia area. The guys who spotted the eagle are experienced falconers and had a pair of binnoculars with them. I drove up there, but, never saw the bird. could this be the same bird.
Its very possible. It was dark, I couldnt see any color on the bird and thought it was too large for it to be a RT. My second thought was that it could have been a golden eagle, but i couldnt tell you exactly what it was.
Hesperia is an hour and 45mins away from where I spotted the bird.

Keep your eyes out for the bird. One hour and 45 minutes is not very far for a golden eagle when it is in the soar. Finding it is like a needle in a haystack. You just have to get lucky and be in the right place at the right time.
This was just posted on Raptor Rep today by Brian Kellogg about Lee Mann's lost eagle. Could it be the same one. -Joe
Hi all, a friend of mine, Lee Mann here in WA lost his passage female golden on Sat while flying in the Renton area of Western WA. The bird was last seen over Auburn heading east toward Mount Rainier. The transmitter frequency is: 216.023- The way she was traveling, she could be in eastern WA,OR , CA or ID. by now. If everyone in the WA, ID, OR, CA area could just go outside with your receiver and do a sweep maybe someone could pick up a beep and call Lee...his cell # is 206-919-5701 Thanks, Brian
That was Lee's female. From what I heard she is a big female. The guys who spotted this tiecel have been falconers for many years and they got right under the eagle. All they had was one of tennis shoe and they put some string on it and drug it under the eagle. The eagle came off the pole and made a couple of passes at the shoe, but, wouldn't come in on it. They said the beak was really overgrown and needed to be coped and the eagle had a small crop on it. Its about 50 miles from my house, so, the next day I went up there and drove around the area where they spotted it , but, never did see the eagle.
I think the golden is still in my area. When I got home from school today my mom said to me "Oh, by the way, i saw this HUGE Brown bird today, looked like some kind of hawk. What kind do you think it was?"
she didnt know I had spotted the bird yesterday.
I asked her a couple questions to see if maybe it really was a golden, but she didnt know, said it was too far off but that it definatly wasnt a RT or a Vulture and that it was brown and huge.
That was this afternoon soaring over a field behind my back yard. The field behind my house is about 2miles away from where I spotted the bird yesterday. I dont have a reciever, other wise i'd try to locate the bird that way.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.
