I heard maybe 2-3mm thickness? That's what I heard...
I think you mean 1.2mm or 3oz and that should be fine for a RT if it's taken from a strong part of the hide (not around the edges).

Suggestion-I have used a good quality buckskin on Redtails for years. Cut it a little larger than needed then grease it well as it will stretch. The price is very reasonable. You can tan it yourself also.
