I am like that and I am English. Casting is VERY important to get rd of any bacteria in the crop. It's like a cat eating grass and then being sick. It's a very neat piece of enginerring and part of a bird's daily maintenance is to cast. If a bird doesn't cast for 3 days they are at risk for getting ill. DOC have plenty of casting, 2 chicks gives a small pellet. I feed Dusk DOC from day to day. Early on in the wek I'll feed a quail over 2 days (1 quail lasts with her), when I won't fly her. I fly her to chick legs and wings. Sometimes I give beef as well. I prefer feeding rats rather than quail, but at the moment they're in short supply for some reason. Make sure the bird has every last bit of the rat or quail. Depending on what bird you get, the diet varies. But DOC is a good staple for most birds, in my opinion. With or without yolk sacs! I leave em in though, as vitamin A is in there. Yum.

I would not buy the arab hoods from them, i bought some arab hoods from a differnt supplier, and quite frankly they were crap. Hoods are important, IMO, if your going to use one get a good one. I have seen a Chris Proctor hood, it was excellent. Also heard great things about Stanislavs and Pineo, as well as Tait. I am also pleased with my hoods from Ken Hooke.
