The antenna does come off the receiver. You could probably slip it into your hawking vest, but, then you wouldn't have any room for the game you caught. Your best bet is to do like Weasel did and switch to a Yagi that does fold up. What price range are you finding on this unit? I have seen them on ebay under "telemetry" for $400 plus $10 for shipping.
Mike's Falconry has a carrying case for the R-400 for $45. I converted a hand cannon soft case to carry mine. They cost about $20 and are padded. That being said I'm still going to order a three element yagi.Kurt
I like the L&L transmitters also, I have 2 that were specially made for the eagle by L&L. They use 3 of the 392 batteries and the antenna is made a little thicker than the standard transmitter. The price was extremely reasonable @ $139 compared to Marshalls price of $200 plus for any of thier transmitters. Marshall does make an eagle transmitter that has a plastic coated stainlees steel antenna that cost about $225. The antenna is very thick so the eagle can't destroy it. Marshall stuff is good, but, its outa my price range
FalconBoy, you might call the manufactor of the R-400 and ask them if they them sell direct and that would cut out the middle mans price. The guy is very nice.
I use L&L for all my transmitters/recievers too. Good price and they pick up at longer ranges than any other that I've found reguardless of what the other manufacturers say (I've already tested them)!!!
Go to the Merlin Systems website and e-mail him for a price list. he sent me the price list back before christmas and you could get the reciver, 3 element yagi, the square blue antenna, and a rubber duck antenna that would only be good to test that your transmitter is a few feet away all for under $400
I bought mine through Merlin Systems. The guy on the phone was really nice, and down to earth. Falconer too... Price wise it cost me $445 for the R-400 , and a Yagi for $95.
If you were talking to Merlin Systems, then you talked to Ed Levine. Really a nice guy to do buisness with and stands behind his stuff !00%. I always have one or 2 Merlin transmitters in my falconry box. And he is extremely reasonable in his prices
really? im my email its 465 for everything i listed before.
Thats the package deal, I wanted specifically the Reciever and Yagi.
No case, smurf atennae, or rubber duck.
