Unless I volunteer to just make one for a person once in awhile, I do ask that the person sends me a couple of bucks to cover the cost of the string and the mailing. It's only about $3 for everything! LOL Beats the hell out of $12 and $15 from Northwoods!
I made all my own equipment, except the glove, swivels, and bells. I also have a good design for a giant hood and have made several. I used funiture quality wood from Lowes (1x2's), after a simple frame is made from this I coated it in gloss white paint and covered the frame in black coraplast. (4x8 sheet is 8$) The bottom is removable for easy cleaning. Curt

I really haven't been on the forum for a looong time... But anyway, I hope to get some leather-working items (and some leather) for Christmas and try to make some stuff using the Falconry Equipment book.

PS I guess I need to post pictures too..
Where did you get the coraplastic? I would like to make my giant hood out of that.

I called up a local plastic supplier and they had coroplast in 4x8 sheets any color you want. I got two sheets of black. One sheet should suffice to build your giant hood. First build a simple lightweight frame and use pvc to make the carry handle, dont forget to frame the door itself also. I used some pre-cut thin wood strips from Lowes to make a frame closeout for the door. This provides not only a door stop but also blocks light from entering around the door frame. The idea of the hood is give the bird a sense of total darkness where it can rest and protect it during transport. I found some round luevered vents about 1.5" in diameter to give the box ventalation. I installed four on each side, two high, two low. I will post some pix as soon as I get my software problems sorted out. My home computer got zapped by a power surge, and my #@&^%#@ surge protector failed to pick it up!! Curt
Scottsman, I was wondering what part of Oklahoma you are in. I am in Wichita Falls, Texas which is 10 miles from OK. If close enough I will check out the same Plastic place as you did. p.s. I was in Oklahoma last week and saw a lot of RT's all over the place. There was one section of road I counted 4 within a mile.

I live in northeast OK a long way from TX border. Just comb through to Yellow pages on plastic suppliers you are bound to find one that handles coreplast sheeting.
