Here are the step-by-step pics I promised to show on the Arab Leash that I use. Sorry it took so long!!! LOL
Put both jesses through the Arab Leash.
Flip the ends around towards the back side.
Push the ends up through the loop the jesses made when wrapping them around the back side of the leash.
Once through, pull them tight up against the sewn tab.
To undo them, hold onto the tab with the gloved hand and pull down on the "knot" part of the jesses. They stay tight and tighten more with bating but it is smooth and easy to undo for hunting or flying the bird instead of fumbling with the jesses, swivel and leash, especially in the winter when your fingers are cold!

I might consider using this system in the field. I normaly use a french clip to attach the jesses so I'll try this system and see whats easier... ;D

Looks so freakin' easy, I feel dumb now that I couldn't figure it out without the step-by-step . thanks for going through the trouble and all, and no you didn't take too long, not like any of us were in a real hurry or anything. ;D
My friend has a saddlery business. He makes custom supplies of all kinds for horses. He keeps this nylon in stock all the time. Of course he has heavy duty sewing machines and waxed thread, all that outdoorsy, last a lifetime material. He told me that i could come in and make all i want . Eddie, it looks like the overall length of this extension is about six inches. How close am I?
Overall it is 8" long. But, once you loop it through the swivel it ends up being about 7". The sewn end is about 1.5". To make it cut a piece that is 16" long and fold it in half. Use some rubber cement glue to glue the ends together about 1.5" down and let that dry overnight. Then, using waxed string (waxed dental floss works great), sew the ends together first and then sew the middle. Put the open-looped end through the swivel and put the sewn tab through the loop to it is a permanent part of the swivel and donw come off.
How long are the jesses and what material or type of leather?

only part i'm concerned about is the sewing. I'm inclined to to an additional secure (square) knot at the end above the sewn tab. Simply because i don't trust sewing. If you see how i sew, you'd understand.
I'm not the best sewer either. I start sewing at the bottom part of the glued tab and work it around the edges and when I come around to the bottom part again on the opposite side, I zig-zag the stitch up the center. I have never had one break and my last hen red-tails flying weight was 1098 grams......that's big! She hit my hand so hard a few time she actually knocked me on my butt. Just make sure you use some good, strong string. I only use waxed dental floss because it seems to be really strong.
