I built this ring perch out of 5/8 all thread, (to grip the sisal rope) and large chain at the bottom. 16 inch circle. The bars in the center are cut out of tire irons I bought at a junk yard. All together about 9$ spent and two hours of figuring and welding.
It swivels smoothly and can be used without the base if you want to stake it down. Just thought others out there would like to see a 10$ ring perch idea that most anyone can make.
I like it! I have seen a few with that design and they work great. Yours does have a lot more design in it and that makes it look even better. I'm assuming that you tie the leash on one side of the higher links of chain. When the bird bates it swivels the perch around. When the bird is at the end of the leash the side of the perch that you tethered the leash to, should be facing the bird..right?. Which in turns keeps the leash from getting fowled up around or over the ring. The ring's center shaft is hollow and sits on the pole of the base which make a good rotating ring perch.
I used to think i knew some things. But i'm not so sure anymore.
It looks like it has kinda thick rope, just make sure your leash can't get snagged on it. But I might be wrong I'm still a noob.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Looks nice. I'd be concerned that the leash would get snagged on the orniment in the middle and it also looks like the bird could hop thru either side of the bottom archs. You could add a couple diagonal bars down from the center cross arm to the chain to block those areas.
He had 5 plain ones for sale yesterday for $75.00 each. He makes ring perches and portable bow perches. They are a real bargin. His email is (longbow@mail.pgrb.com) I have one of each. ET
Here is a picture of the portable bow perch he made for me. I think he gets $60.00 for these but you have to check with Dustin.
I have changed up the design and made it more simple but when you get simple, you get plain. Maybe you get safety to though. I have 6 rings made right now and they are 1/4 chain instead of 1/2 chain. ( Instead of the chain going up the sides to the rope the have about a 13 inch piece centered on the bottom) I also went with a T designed center, removing the ornamental piece for folks safety concerns. I will however create one with the ornamental spiral if requested. I need to purchase the cultivator discs for the bases and get the bases finished up but the rings are the hard part. I can also do full circles without any chain on them for folks who like JUST THE BASICS. Regardless of design rings are $60.00 and they come with a spike to sink into the lawn that rotates very nicely. Bases are an additional $25 and can only be purchased with a ring because they cost $25 to make. I'm an easy going guy with zero thoughts of going into business selling perches. I'm just trying to do what I can with limited skills to pay my way to the THA meet in Abilene this year. Bow perches are $60 if you want specific lengths or weight simply let me know. All perches come painted with high gloss black industrial spray paint and 1/2 or 1/4 sisal rope. I reccomend if you use 1/2 on one of your perches that you change it up on the next and give a varied foot rest. I can put 2 1/2 steel welded rings on any perch and anywhere on the perch you would like. Have fun everyone and feel free to contact me anytime about perches or anything else.
Wow. That completely kills the low price you offer for the perches. It doesn't look so pretty with that big shipping price :/ Have you looked into different carriers and their prices for shipping?
you could also look into greyhound for shipping I know rodent pro uses them to save us cash on our shipments, don't know what it would be but it may be cheaper....
