I asked a experienced dog trainer and falconer on the views of this dog and he swore by the the breed as good for working as well as a good family dog. I have taken the plunge and have bought a puppy ready for 4 weeks time. Ii have no intention of having them under my hawks as i have nowhere enough experience at this stage to even contemplate it.
It will be trips on our own and when i have her (KIRA) trained i have enough bunny holes big enough for her to play in. She will also be fun around the house and with my lot will be fed better than i will be. Mind you i have no teeth to crunch on anything
It would be interesting to hear other views on these dogs from real owners No wannabe's please or book readers hands on only
thanks

Jan fennel a famous dog trainer who has just written the 'Dog listener' is doing a lecture just down the road from me about the insight of dog behavior . to go and listen to her will be a great learning curve i think. Again i think its important to perhaps learn how to train one instead of just throwing cash at a trainer and say when its ready give me a call. you learn nothing that way again wannabe working dog owners. I have learned a severe lesson in this and i follow it on in my first working dog. Did have a Labrador i grew up with but not quite the same A loved dog but as soppy as mud ;D

She comes from a good pedigree hunting line. The size of her paws are huge. I will see how she gets on and then decide whether to hunt her. I will start to familiarize her with the HH's i have.
Ear plugs everybody ;D

I had a dog Paterdale from pure Brightmoore/Gould/Nutthal stock. He was bought up with raptors from 8 weeks old but when he got to 18months old and started serious earth work decided my hawks was fair game,so with great reluctance i had to rehome him and i was gutted as he was a great "hard" earthdog and my mate, but he was always safe with my two ferrets!.

Nope even my large Finn/German female Gos was fair game to him.He was fine with mwe around but soon as my back was turned..... As for the ferrets i let them nip once when he was 10weeks old to show him who the Govener was and always treated them as an ally whilst bolting rats and rabbits before he started the digging job.
thier great dogs. i grew up with one who passed away a couple years back of old age. but until the end he was alwayes in my back yard going down a ground hog hole.
09-10season 0 game taken. No one said any thing about needing a bird to go hunting ;D ;D
