Yea, he was taught that real quick when he ran up to the Harris and got nose slapped.

Well, my Harris is used to the dogs being around and as long as they don't barge in on them, it's OK....but the pup ran in quickly and the Harris just open footed the pups nose....

My RT's did the same as they only want to scare off the dog, not hold onto it.....unless it was something like a toy poodle.....those are live lures.

how soon would you say it is good to introduce the bird to the dog. i just got a frt today off the trap. should i have my mini D walking around durring manning? deffinatly not when he is perched in the living room i would say for now. i think the bird would eat my dog. lol

I would introduce them from the start. Keep the dog safe but in close proximity. Certainly once the bird is eating try a build a strong association. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away
Rage, I had my mini-d with me whenever I had GRIM out of the darkened mews. Teddy Moritz told me that I should never have the bird out when the dog wasn't visible. Also, knowing how to remove the bird from the dog quickly is essential. PM me if you need to know more. -Joe
You want to introduce the dog ASAP. Not only are you associating the hawk to the dog, but also the dog to the hawk. It's a good time to teach the dog his hawk maners; ie: not to bark at the hawk and to keep their distance. I use a BACK command when my dogs get to close.

well i had the dog around all day while i was manning. so far so good. the bird doesnt seem to care much about the dog and the dog runs when the bird bates.
Yarak- call me sometime, id like to chat more about the dog and bird.....
