Teddy Mortiz / Moritz [dont remember how to spell it ] in NJ sells mini's, i have met her at the MD meets as well as some of her dogs, they are excellent. Most of the peopel around here have her dogs or another guy around here who breeds them.

The dachshunds run around, find a scent, chase the bunny, and some will go down holes, some wont though. You have a 50/50 chance. My sponsor's used to, then they found a fox in one, and now they dont go down anymore.

Colin, that's why i'm looking so hard for a person that has a litter of dogs that have been hunting. Especially in dogs, like dachshunds, that have been used as house dogs for so long. Sometimes that hunting gene seems to kinda slip right out of the old DNA chain. I had a wolfhound that wouldn't course. Geeesh... ALL wolfhounds course ! He was just in the shallow end of that gene pool.
lol, i know what you mean, i once tried to get him on a scent and he ran away once he realized it as racoon. fortunately my other dog is showing some promise, shes a 2 year old black lab/ great dayne mix (spelling?) she got on a scent one day and did a perdect little point.

Here's a photo of my two long haired mini dachies. Pheby on the left and Rusty on the right. They and myself would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and happy New Year. Good hawk'n Fred
what about half 1/2 mini/1/2 regular? We've had caesar(spelling?) for a year and a half. He has the legs of a regualr and the body of a mini? Inceribly smart, would he be worth the effort because he is rather stubborn.
