 Local clubs
« Thread Started on Apr 19, 2009, 9:13am »

Just getting started in falconry.I,ve been told the best way to do this is to find a falconry club and attend meetings and meet people involved in the sport.I live in Orlando
The closest one I found on the web is F-H-F and is 2 hours
away. I would be willing to drive that far if I could find nothing closer. but as one of the goals is finding a sponsor
closer would be better. Any help would be appreciated

FHF will have members from all over the state not just the area around the meet. If you go they can probably introduce you to members that live near Orlando.

If your a member, the club might have a directory you could get a hold of. Then you could see who's in your area and make some phone calls.

Meets are great for meeting people and seeing birds, ect. I drove nearly 6 hours for a falconer's picnic in Indiana when I was getting started.

I'm moving to New York state from Europe. I've been a falconer in Europe since 2004, but really need to find sponsorship in the state of NY. The New York State Falconers' Association web site has a list of email contacts and NONE OF THEM WORK. They say "undeliverable". is there actually a NY Falconers' Association? And if so, why are they not interested in taking on apprentices? Anyone in New York, PLEASE come forward :-/

Hi Hudsonhawke

I'm from NY and welcome.
Yes, The NYS Falconers have a club and we are in the process of getting our website back up and running.
If you want to e-mail me privetly I maybe can give you some names to contact depending on where in NY your going to live.

That's fantastic news, ICE. The NYSFA website is fully published, but none of the emails are actually registered.

I live in the Newburgh/West Point area of the Hudson Valley.

Hello, I live in New York and have recently seriously started thinking about taking up falconry. I ordered the guide and examination book from the NYSDEC to try and get a little more information and maybe an idea were I should go next. I found the New York Falconry Association web page (I believe) but do not know A) Where they are located and B) How to contact them. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I live in upstate new york if that helps! (not the city...)
