Chris. The pen is a little under 3 feet wide and the length is 12 feet long. The height is 14/18 inches, can't remember which. There is for a fact 50 females and 18 males but I may have tossed in another several females and a couple of more males. So your looking at anywhere from at least 68 to 78 birds. Of course these are just for breeding. I don't plan on keeping them once fall arrives. In the freezer they will go.
do the eggs that were laid that day get stept on and how many eggs do you get a day.

sorry to resurect this post, but I am thinking of making a quail pen, and this design is looking the best so far, I am doing it for hawk food, eggs fertilized or not, and for re-populating my area when the pen gets crowded. Now for the ?
Any regs in WA that will keep me from doing this? I can't find info any anywhere! How do you get the eggs out w/out the quail escaping? How much does it cost to maintain this many quail?
THANKS! Tyler
